Fencing Biography: Maciek Czyzowicz
Maciek Czyzowicz came to the United States in 2003. Prior to coming to the United States, Maciek was a member of three Olympic Teams (1988, 1992, 1996) representing the country of Poland. His event was modern pentathlon which is a composite event of five sports: running, swimming, horseback riding, shooting, and fencing. Modern Pentathlon represents the skills that military man would have to know at the time they formed the Modern Olympics.
Maciek trained hard at these different events and his hard work paid off at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. Together with his teammates, they won the Team Olympic Gold Medal in Modern Pentathlon (Pictures left and below).
Maciek runs his own fencing club: Rocky Mountain Fencing Academy based out of Colorado Springs. In partnership with the Denver Fencing Center, he will work to create elite level epee fencers (type of fencing in Modern Pentathlon) in Denver. We look forward to a long and successful partnership. |
